#inyourcorner

It's been a bloody busy week, but productive & exciting!

I'm meeting up with Sports Direct tomorrow to discuss the sponsorship they kindly put in place earlier this week πŸ˜„ Admin was thrilled with this and I, for once, (okay more than once!) was gobsmacked!

Seriously, there has been so much going on this week as to be unbelievable, and I'm still constantly humbled by the help and support many kind people and firms are giving me. I'll give a fuller update on that in the next few days.

It's been out a little while but this video really picks up on the fight theme with mental health. It really is a fight & battle the sufferer goes through, yet so many still can't see this, can't or won't understand it and stigmatise or ridicule sufferers and carers.

Released by Time to Change as part of their campaign to reduce & stamp out stigma. It interests me and ties in with the elective as, of course, one of my aims is to see how sufferers and carers are treated by society as a whole in Tanzania.

We, in the UK & NHS, certainly do not hold the moral high ground on being better than any nation as the amount of stigma faced by ill people in Britain is dire, shameful really - hence the need for campaigns like Time to Change.

Anyways have YOU made your pledge to stamp out stigma in mental health? Please do have a think, it'd be nice if you could.

As I said I'll update more on the elective and planning and stuff over the weekend.

Great start to the week

Been a great start to the week this week, culminating in some great news today πŸ˜ƒ

My admin has been beavering away for me and was doubly excited today. He had heard that 3 firms were willing to help and or sponsor me.πŸ™ŒπŸŽ†

I still have trouble believing people in general and the owners, managers & workers of these firms are willing to help support or sponsor little ol me! It is a really lovely feeling but it is also very humbling too.

Anyhoo two I can list here but one is staying under wraps for the minute as I have to speak to the lady there first and am looking forward to that call.

Hot off the presses, well OK admins email are:

Proud to help protect Karen's health on this elective
We had a lovely email first thing this morning from Kirsty at Pyramid Travel Products - they are a family based firm in Scotland and have been going for ages, 20 or more years I think, so these folks really know their stuff when it comes to repellents!

They have kindly & proudly agreed to support me by helping protect me from those nasty flying blood sucking, semi silent, ninja mosquitoes! The mozzies who usually like to try and  turn me in to a local cordon bleu eatery are going to meet their match this time thanks to the wonderful items Pyramid have very kindly supplied- as my admin said, ultimate protection for the ultimate student nurse, although he admits he is is a tad biased.

Proud to help Karen with freshness & hygiene
Next off the presses was a lovely email from Jessica at Waterless Ltd..

I just wanted to make sure, if the need arose, I could freshen up rapidly and the lovely Jessica at Waterless came to the rescue with their products. Nilaqua is a an anti-bacterial wash that doesn't need water! Ideal for letting me freshen up rapidly, if needed.

Uni has been hectic that's for sure!! The weekend seems so very far away this week

Anyway my eyes are drooping and I shall say ttfn
